What do you mean "there is no way," its not anywhere near the realm of impossibility. They've said recently that they would like to dramatically speed up the patch verification process, now that Windows 10 and Xbox are going to be interacting with each other so much.

That's certainly always been an issue in the past, but I can see Microsoft really opening up a support (they have said in the past cross-plat is a relatively high priority for the coming years) pipeline to help alleviate these issues. If they do manage to incorporate some cross-play then it will only be on official servers to prevent back-end issues(servers), hacking, etc. All the data will have to be synchronized.
